Dreptul penal și criminalitatea minoră: abordări și politici de prevenire
Abstract
I am presenting a summary of my paper titled "Juvenile Crime and Prevention Policies", which addresses the pressing issue of juvenile delinquency in the Republic of Moldova. This phenomenon involves offenses committed by individuals under 18 and ranges from minor theft and vandalism to severe acts such as violence and drug offenses. My research discusses the core principles of juvenile criminal law, including legality, proportionality, and the emphasis on social reintegration over strict punitive measures. I highlight the importance of preventive strategies like educational programs and social interventions aimed at reducing juvenile crime rates. The study identifies contributing factors to youth crime, such as social, family, economic, psychological, and cultural influences. Key preventive measures outlined in my work include fostering education, early social support, and community involvement, along with restorative justice practices that facilitate victim-offender mediation and community service. I stress that collaborative efforts among institutions, families, and communities are crucial for creating a safe environment that helps prevent recidivism and promotes the successful reintegration of young individuals. Effective prevention policies must be datadriven, adaptable, and ensure youth participation for practical relevance.
