The prophylactic and therapeutic potential of resveratrol in attenuating ketonuria and proteinuria induced by experimental diabetes
Abstract
Ketonuria and proteinuria are important markers of metabolic imbalances and kidney damage in the context of diabetes mellitus. The present study investigated the therapeutic effect of resveratrol, a natural polyphenolic compound with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, on ketonuria and proteinuria levels in experimentally induced diabetes in white laboratory rats. Its administration led to a reduction in urinary excretion of ketones and proteins, suggesting a protective effect on renal tissue and a possible alleviation of oxidative stress and diabetes-associated inflammation. The obtained results support the need for further research to elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms and evaluate the applicability of this bioactive compound.
