Evaluation of biochemical parameters in the body of high-performance athletes
Abstract
Physical effort is essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. When we talk about the bodies of high-performance athletes who are engaged in physical effort on a daily basis, it is important to test certain physiological and biochemical indicators in order to assess the level of adaptation of organ systems to the proposed effort, as well as to evaluate the body"s ability to recover after physical effort. This paper describes the estimation of hemoglobin levels and iron concentrations in the bodies of high-performance swimmer athletes. Based on the results obtained, we can state that the hemoglobin levels and Fe²⁺ ion concentrations at muscular rest are within normal limits (for both males and females). However, after performing aerobic swimming exercise, both hemoglobin levels and iron ion concentrations increased significantly. This physiological response can be described as an adaptation mechanism to endurance effort, specifically through the increase of circulating blood volume.
