Variations in certain indicators of the morphofunctional and biochemical status in roe deer (Capreolus capreolus Linnaeus, 1758), before and after antiparasitic treatment
Abstract
The study "Variations in certain morphofunctional and biochemical status indices in roe deer (Capreolus capreolus Linnaeus, 1758), before and after antiparasitic treatment" highlights the variations in morphofunctional and biochemical status indices in roe deer (Capreolus capreolus Linnaeus, 1758), before and after the application of antiparasitic treatment. The general analysis of hematological indices, both initially and after treatment, revealed that in the examined groups of deer, the levels of hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrit, total proteins, albumins, glucose, and cholesterol were lower, while the activity of aspartate aminotransferase, the level of bilirubin, and the number of eosinophils were higher in Group I (infested deer) compared to Group II (non-infested deer). The total number of eosinophils determined in the deer groups showed that, at the initial stage, their level was 22.8% higher (td = 3.2; P ≤ 0.05) in the infested group compared to the non-infested group. After antiparasitic treatment, both groups showed a decrease in the total number of eosinophils. However, on the 7th day after treatment, the eosinophil count remained 25.0% higher (td = 4.2; P ≤ 0.01) in the infested group compared to the non-infested group.
