Abstract

In the southern region of the Republic of Moldova, hydrological stations on small rivers are practically absent. Many of them were closed 8-17 years ago. In order to increase hydrological knowledge of the region, reconstruction of time series is important to perform. In this regard, the Lunga river flow was considered for analysis, flow times series reconstruction and evaluation. Main utilized methods are time series statistical analysis, reconstruction and comparison recommended by national normative documents. Monitoring of the Lunga river was performs in the Ceadâr-Lunga city from 1976 till 2013, by State Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Moldova. Average hydrological characteristics for the monitored period are: average flow is about 0,13 m3/s, runoff is 11 mm, volume is 4,1 mil.m3. Main water resources are formed in spring season, about 1/3. About 25% of water volume is generated in summer and winter, and 19% - in autumn. Reconstruction of river flow was performed from 1950 to 1975 and from 2014 till 2022. Obtained flow results for 1950-2022 do not differ much from those monitored, however the comparison of average flow for 1960-1990 and 1991-2022 show a reduction of average flow by 46%, winter flow by 48%, spring flow by 59%, summer flow by 40% and autumn flow by 26,3%.
