Abstract

The current international landscape is shaped by numerous challenges and threats to global stability and peace. Nuclear war remains one of the most complex issues in security studies, international relations, and contemporary history, given its catastrophic implications and interdisciplinary nature. This study aims to analyze the security policies of nuclear-armed states within the bipolar structure of the international system and evaluate the role of the international community in preventing nuclear escalation amid the war in Ukraine. The research applies systemic, case study, and analytical methods. It highlights how the international community responds through diplomatic, economic, and military actions to deter nuclear catastrophe, especially as the Russian Federation employs nuclear intimidation as a tool of influence on the global stage.
