Educational strategies through sports for building a culture of peace
Abstract
This study examines how educational strategies that use physical education and sports can effectively promote a culture of peace in schools and communities. It focuses on valuebased education and the ability of team sports to support students' social and emotional development. A mixed-methods approach was used, combining a review of existing research with a case study of physical education programs in schools. The activities studied included cooperative games and exercises that help students resolve conflicts peacefully. The results showed that students who took part in these programs developed better emotional intelligence, greater tolerance, and stronger teamwork skills. Participation in structured sports and guided interactions also helped reduce aggressive behavior and encouraged more positive relationships among peers. The study concludes that using value-driven physical education in school curricula can play an important role in encouraging peaceful attitudes and creating inclusive school environments. This research offers practical guidance for teachers and education policy-makers who want to use sport as a tool for peace education.
