Psychological resilience: adaptive process, condition of balance and indicator of mental health
Abstract
Resilience is increasingly recognized in the literature as a dynamic psychological process that facilitates the individual's adaptation to situations of adversity, stress, and trauma. It is not a fixed trait, but a complex interaction between personal resources and contextual supports. This article explores resilience from three complementary perspectives: as an adaptive process, as a set of individual and social conditions that support optimal functioning, and as a result of the ability to cope with stress and maintain psychological balance. Finally, the contemporary need to cultivate resilience is analyzed, considering its impact on mental health and quality of life in the face of major traumas and everyday challenges.
