Abstract

This paper explores the theological foundations and practical applications of Christian social assistance within the mission of the Orthodox Church. The primary objective is to analyze how Orthodox theology supports social engagement and how the Church collaborates with state institutions to address contemporary social challenges. The research methodology is based on a qualitative analysis of theological sources, historical documents, and current institutional practices. Key findings show that Christian social assistance is deeply rooted in the Church's spiritual mission, supported from its beginnings by the Church Fathers, and continues today in modern forms such as community centers, soup kitchens, and counseling services. The collaboration between the Orthodox Church and public institutions has proven effective in mitigating issues like poverty, marginalization, and aging populations. Nevertheless, structural limitations such as lack of resources and qualified personnel persist. The study emphasizes the need for strategic partnerships and training programs to enhance the Church's capacity to respond to social service needs.
