Abstract

The research investigates the first steps of establishing forestry administration in the Moldavian SSR throughout the immediate postwar period from 1944 to 1950. The People"s Commissariat for the Timber Industry emerged to execute centralized economic directives at the republic level during Soviet forced integration and reconstruction. The research investigates the process of institution establishment and organizational structure development according to Soviet bureaucratic standards. The research uses archival documents from Fond R-2346 to analyze official documents including administrative orders and budget plans and structural reports. The research demonstrates that the forestry administration operated under dual authority from Moscow and Moldavian local authorities while facing challenges in implementing centralized planning in regional contexts. The research provides essential knowledge about Soviet governance in peripheral regions and local institutions" responses to central directives during the essential postwar reconstruction period.
