The evolution of human trafficking in the Republic of Moldova and Romania: statistical analysis

This comparative study examines human trafficking in the Republic of Moldova and Romania, highlighting differences and similarities in the types of exploitation and the profile of victims. In Moldova, labor exploitation is more common, targeting both minors and economically vulnerable adults, with a significant presence of transnational labor trafficking. Socio-economic vulnerabilities, migration, and rural or marginalized environments increase the risk of victims. In Romania, sexual trafficking predominates, affecting mainly young women and girls, including minors, and labor exploitation has a lower share.
