SUPERANDO BARREIRAS: CAMINHOS PARA A ACESSIBILIDADE EM ATIVIDADES PRÁTICAS NO ENSINO DE ENGENHARIA
Abstract
Within the field of Inclusive Education, this paper aims to analyze the infrastructure available for practical activities in engineering laboratories classes at a Federal University in southern Minas Gerais. Based on descriptive, exploratory, and qualitative/quantitative research, the methodological procedures adopted included bibliographical and documentary research, as well as mapping of the physical structures that comprise these spaces. The data show that, despite the increase in enrollments of people with disabilities in higher education, universities are still not prepared to ensure the retention and success of these students, a problem that is exacerbated by the specificities of engineering education. In this context, opportunities for improving accessibility conditions are identified, proposing strategies that aim to overcome the barriers faced by students with disabilities in higher education.
