AI-Assisted Fashion Design Sketch Generation: Comparative Analysis and a Unified Intelligent System Framework
Abstract
In traditional fashion design processes, the integration of modern cultural elements with traditional craftsmanship has often been limited, and the application of advanced digital technologies has not been fully explored. As a result, the efficiency of sketch creation and the potential for innovative design thinking remain constrained. In the context of digital transformation, fashion design requires deeper integration with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance creativity, streamline workflows, and support forward-looking design development. With the rapid development of AI technologies, AI-driven tools are increasingly reshaping the workflow of fashion design sketch generation. This study systematically investigates the application of AI in fashion design sketches through case analyses of representative tools, including independent drawing software, assisted sketching applications, and garment CAD systems. By examining applications such as Sketchbook, Prêt-à-Template, Fashion Clothes Designer Draw, and Garment CAD, the research compares their functional structures, usage scenarios, interaction processes, and levels of design assistance. The findings indicate that current AI-based systems enhance sketch generation efficiency through rich template databases, intelligent classification of garment elements, digital brush simulation, pattern automation, and 3D simulation technologies. These tools reduce manual workload, shorten design cycles, and support the transformation from conceptual sketches to production-ready garments. The research provides a structured analysis of AI applications in fashion sketching and offers strategic insights for the future development of intelligent fashion design systems.
