Abstract

In Niger , the rains in 2024 were heavier than anyone alive could remember. Elders told Sidikou Issaka Maiga that they had never seen rainfall destroy so much in such a short time. The flooding washed away tracks, drowned crops, and cut whole villages off from the nearest health facility. The seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaign was supposed to be running. Children in flooded villages were unreachable by car or motorbike.
