Abstract

The study reviews the results of elite research related to Szeklerland, based on professional publications from the post-1989 period. The analysis presents research that examined the role of the local elite through the lens of development policy and rural studies. Special attention is paid to the intertwining of institutional positions and individual commitment, as well as the impact of the new rural development paradigm on the transformation of rural elites' roles. The study points out that in Szeklerland, local elites connect local society, global challenges, and external development forces in an intersectional position.
