Abstract

Background: Over the past three decades, psychotherapy practice in Latin America has advanced significantly, driven by government reforms and the increasing role of clinical psychology. However, challenges like inconsistent mental health policy implementation and resource disparities persist. Qualitative and micro-process research have helped link theory and practice, yet large-scale outcome assessments remain limited. Objective: This article explores the potential for implementing routine outcome monitoring in Latin America, considering the region's distinctive mental health services, research culture, and practices regarding data usage. It introduces the Latin American Psychotherapy Research Consortium (CLIP), an initiative to promote a unified approach for conducting research using routine outcome monitoring across the region. Its core mission is to facilitate collaboration, promote evidence-based practices in psychotherapy, and create a standardized framework for routine clinical data collection. Conclusion: More than a collaborative platform, CLIP embodies a collective vision for more equitable and effective mental health systems in Latin America. Psychotherapists, researchers, and mental health service providers are encouraged to engage in this initiative, fostering an environment where research and practice come together to improve therapeutic outcomes and inform policy decisions.
