Analisis 5C pada Bank di Gresik
Abstract
This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the implementation of the 5C principles (Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Condition of Economy) in the credit granting process at a bank in Gresik. The 5C principles serve as an important instrument for assessing debtor eligibility in order to minimize the risk of non-performing loans. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method to obtain an empirical overview of credit distribution practices carried out by the bank. The research data were collected through in-depth interviews with parties directly involved in the credit analysis and approval process, supported by documentation and observations of the credit procedures and policies implemented. The findings indicate that the bank in Gresik has formally applied the 5C principles in accordance with applicable regulations and provisions. However, their implementation has not yet been carried out optimally and proportionally. The assessment of Character and Capacity tends to remain subjective and relies heavily on the individual judgment of credit analysts. Meanwhile, Capital analysis has not become a primary focus in credit decision-making, while Collateral has emerged as the most dominant factor. In addition, the analysis of the Condition of Economy has not been conducted comprehensively and in depth. This condition potentially increases the risk of non-performing loans in the future. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the implementation of the 5C principles in a more comprehensive and balanced manner in order to improve the quality of credit distribution and maintain banking performance stability.
