Abstract

This study explores how immersive Virtual Reality (VR) can shape public understanding of complex scientific processes, using Advanced Purified Water (APW) as a case example. Using a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design with independent samples, the study measures how participants’ behavioral intentions change after they experience an educational VR simulation of the water purification process. Statistical tests (Chi-square, Fisher’s Exact, and Mann–Whitney U) compare pre- and post-test responses. Results show that the VR experience increased participants’ willingness and comfort with using APW, demonstrating how VR can build understanding and trust in emerging technologies that the public will increasingly rely on.
