Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health issue in Indonesia, which is the second-highest contributor to global TB incidence. Health education plays a crucial role in increasing awareness and willingness to participate in TB screening. During World Pharmacist Day (WPD) 2025, pharmacists in Bogor City conducted TB education and community engagement activities to promote early detection. This study aimed to analyze the influence of TB education on the community’s willingness to undergo TB screening and examine the association between demographic factors (gender, age, and residential area) with TB symptoms and exposure history. A cross-sectional study with 205 respondents from WPD 2025 at Taman Heulang, Bogor City, was conducted. The study used a TB screening questionnaire, assessing demographic variables and symptoms (frequency of cough and history of contact with a TB patient). Chi-square tests showed that all participants were willing to undergo TB screening. Gender was significantly associated with cough symptoms, but no association was found with TB contact history. Age and residential area showed no significant associations with cough or contact history. These findings suggest that TB education during WPD 2025 effectively encouraged 100% willingness for TB screening, and demographic factors did not hinder screening intention. Pharmacist-led activities have strong potential to enhance early TB detection.
