EFEKTIVITAS PENGGUNAAN MEDIA AUDIOVISUAL TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN REMAJA TENTANG POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME (PCOS) DI SMP NEGERI 18 PEKANBARU TAHUN 2025

Background: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the endocrine disorders that can affect the reproductive health of adolescent girls. A lack of knowledge about PCOS among adolescents may hinder early detection and proper treatment. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of audiovisual media in increasing adolescents’ knowledge about PCOS. Method: The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 69 female students from SMP Negeri 18 Pekanbaru, selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires administered before and after the audiovisual educational intervention. Result: The results showed that the average knowledge score increased from 5.99 in the pretest to 7.62 in the posttest. A paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in knowledge before and after the intervention. Conclusian: It can be concluded that audiovisual media is effective in enhancing adolescents’ knowledge about PCOS. This medium is recommended as an educational alternative that is engaging, interactive, and easy to understand, and can help raise awareness among adolescents about the importance of maintaining reproductive health from an early age.
