Abstract

Introduction: Afebrile seizures occur most commonly in children less than 3 years of age with decreasing frequency in older children. The etiology of these afebrile seizures varies widely. Calcium estimation is usually ordered in these children. We aimed to study clinical characteristics and hypocalcemia in children aged 1 month to 2 years presenting with afebrile seizures. Methods: Clinical characteristics of children aged 1 month to 2 years presenting with afebrile seizures were collected. Venous blood of one mL was collected and sent immediately for estimation of serum calcium. Hypocalcaemia was defined as total serum calcium
