Assessment of Distance Visual Acuity Using the Meta Quest 3 Head-Mounted Display
Abstract
This project explores the use of a Meta Quest 3–based virtual reality application to assess distance visual acuity under controlled and repeatable conditions. By presenting scaled logMAR (logarithm of the Minimum Angle of Resolution) optotypes at a simulated distance, the system reduces variability related to testing distance, lighting, and contrast that commonly affects non-clinical assessments. The test is designed to be self-administered and hands-free, with users identifying optotypes through an interactive user interface integrated into the virtual environment.
