Abstract

The article is devoted to determining the conditions for the formation of soft dosage forms based on aqueous pectin solutions. For this purpose, a comprehensive rheological study of pectin solutions was carried out in a wide concentration range in the presence of divalent metal ions - calcium, zinc and magnesium. It was found that the introduction of modifying additives affects the viscosity of pectin solutions, yield point and gelling threshold. It is shown that in the presence of divalent metal ions - calcium, zinc and magnesium, the viscosity and yield point of the pectin solution increase. The strongest increase in viscosity and yield point is observed for solutions with a concentration of 3 and 5 g / dl. In addition, the effect of divalent metal ions on the relative increase in the viscosity of pectin solutions decreases in the series Zn2+>Ca2+>Mg2+. It is established that in the presence of a modifying additive, the gelling threshold shifts. It is shown that the patterns of influence of pectin concentration and divalent metal ions on the rheological characteristics of pectin solutions are reflected in the processes of drug release from liquid and soft dosage forms. When studying the process of drug release from the obtained soft dosage forms by dialysis through a semipermeable membrane, it was found that the values of the drug release rates, with an equal concentration of pectin in the solution, are clearly the lower, the higher the content of the modifying additive. In addition, with the same content of the modifying additive, their effect on the drug release rate decreases in the series Zn2+>Ca2+>Mg2+. The strongest decrease in the rate is observed for pectin solutions with a concentration of 3 and 5 g/dl. For citation: Shurshina A.S., Afanasyeva M.A., Lazdin R.Yu., Kulish E.I.
