Barcelona wholesale fish auction transaction data, 2008

This dataset contains complete transaction-level administrative records from the Barcelona wholesale fish auction (Confraria de Pescadors de Barcelona) covering the full calendar year 2008, from 2 January to 29 December. The data were provided by the Confraria de Pescadors de Barcelona for academic research purposes.The original raw data, supplied as thirteen monthly Microsoft Excel files (.xls format), have been cleaned and consolidated into a single dataset. Cleaning operations applied prior to deposit are as follows: (1) systematic day-month transposition in date values was corrected by cross-referencing each record against the known month of its source file; (2) ten exact duplicate records were identified and removed; (3) three records with missing species descriptions were completed via species-code lookup; (4) one record with missing price and quantity values was imputed using the species-level median.The cleaned dataset contains 84,380 transaction records across 37 variables, including: date of auction (Fecha), vessel identifiers (Barco, Nombre, Armador), buyer identifiers (Compr., Nombre Compr), species code and description (Pez, Descripción), quantity in kilograms or boxes (Kilos, Nº Cajas), unit price (Precio), total transaction value (Importe), and quality attributes (Calibre, Fresc., Present.).
