European Zeitenwende
Abstract
With Russia’s large-scale war in Ukraine and the return of Donald Trump as US president, Europe is facing the biggest geopolitical transformation since the end of the Second World War. This “Zeitenwende” is an opportunity for greater European agency and leadership. But it requires Europe to fundamentally rethink itself, along with its interests, instruments and partnerships, as an actor in this new reality. European security must become more European, more strategic, and more pragmatic.
