Replication Package: Architectural Design Decisions for Federated Computational Governance in Data Meshes
Abstract
Replication Package: Architectural Design Decisions for Federated Computational Governance in Data Meshes This replication package accompanies the paper "Architectural Design Decisions for Federated Computational Governance in Data Meshes", submitted to the 19th IEEE International Conference on Software Architecture (ICSA 2026). The paper proposes an architectural decision framework comprising 8 Architectural Design Decisions (ADDs) and 104 decision options, along with forces that guide the selection of appropriate options. The framework was built through a Systematic Gray Literature Review (SGLR) of 49 industrial gray literature articles and refined through semi-structured interviews with 6 data mesh practitioners. This artifact package contains: 1. The paper (`ICSA_2026.pdf`) 2. Complete qualitative coding data: open coding, axial coding, and formal Python-based coding for all 49 gray literature sources and 6 interview participants 3. Formal models: Python models built with Codeable Models encoding all ADDs, options, forces, and evidence 4. Generators: scripts that reproduce the PlantUML diagrams and LaTeX tables presented in the paper 5. Interview materials: interview protocol with informed consent, interview extracts (transcripts), and the extended interview-based validation chapter 6. Additional tables: supplementary tables of forces and sources not included in the paper due to space constraints Please have a look to the README.md and the INSTALL.md files for further details on contents and installation guide.
