Abstract

To identify the prevalence of frailty among hospitalized older adults with diabetes mellitus through a synthesis of the available evidence. Method: A systematic review was conducted through searches in the MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Virtual Health Library (BVS), Scopus, SciELO, and Web of Science databases, as well as in the reference lists of the selected studies. Inclusion criteria were hospitalized older adults diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, and physical frailty, with no time restrictions. The searches were carried out in January 2025. The review followed the guidelines established by the Joanna Briggs Institute for evidence synthesis. A meta-analysis model was applied to estimate the prevalence of frailty, using a random-effects model for data synthesis.
