Figure 1. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis of G. mellonella infected with preformed S. aureus biofilms on stainless-steel implants. Biofilms were implanted (3 x 103 CFU/K-wire) with sequential administration of phage Remus (~3 x 104 PFU) and/or vancomycin (5 µg); or sham (saline-magnesium buffer and/or distilled water). Mortality was scored daily for 72 hours. Uninfected larvae implanted with K-wires without biofilms served as an infection control. The data presented are the mean of three biological replicates consisting of 10 larvae per group. Statistically significant differences by the log-rank test were defined as p < 0.10 between groups.
