State of Play of European Capacity Mechanisms
Abstract
Capacity Mechanisms aim to eliminate residual resource adequacy concernsWith the introduction of a Capacity Mechanism (CM), countries address the missing money problem faced by capacity providers by offering remuneration for capacity to guarantee the national Security of Supply (SoS). CMs incentivize production units to remain available by remunerating their capacity on top of the energy produced.
