AI Programming Automation Grading System Project Assessment Framework Based on SAE J3016
Abstract
With the rapid development of AI-assisted programming tools, software development project management faces new challenges regarding how to accurately assess AI automation levels, reasonably allocate human resources, and formulate effective automation improvement strategies. Drawing on the methodology of the SAE J3016 autonomous driving grading standard, this paper establishes an L0-L5 six-level assessment system based on project automation levels, systematically defining the characteristics of each level from dimensions such as human intervention degree, system capability, and environmental constraints. The research focuses on analyzing the decisive impact of project types (Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) vs. pure software systems, safety-critical vs. non-safety-critical) on AI programming automation levels. The study reveals the fundamental reasons why CPS projects are inevitably constrained due to their reliance on real physical environments, external measurement tools, and human observers, while pure software system projects can achieve high automation. This assessment system provides a systematic decision-making framework for project planning, human resource estimation, risk management, and automation improvement strategy formulation.
