Abstract

This study investigates the procoagulant properties of a synthetic peptide analog derived from the SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid (N) C-terminal domain. The research demonstrates that this specific peptide sequence can bypass standard coagulation pathways to promote fibrin clot formation even in compromised biochemical environments.Key Technical Highlights:Bypass Mechanism: The peptide promotes clot formation in factor-deficient plasma lacking Vitamin K-dependent factors (Factors II, VII, IX, and X).Quantitative Efficacy: Experimental results show a significant reduction in plasma recalcification time, shortening it from $23.74 \pm 0.27$ minutes to $8.442 \pm 6.0395$ minutes ($p = 0.0012$).Structural Target: Focus on the C-terminal domain of the SARS-CoV-2 N protein as a novel template for hemostatic agents.Clinical Significance: Provides a foundation for developing synthetic procoagulants for treating coagulopathies, Vitamin K deficiency, or severe bleeding disorders where traditional factors are absent.
