Stick-Slip of Granular Fault Gouge Under Different Normal Stresses and Loading Rates
Abstract
Direct shear experiments were conducted on smooth glass bead assemblies under normal stresses of 1, 5, and 10 MPa and loading rates of 5, 10, and 50 μm/s, using a 200 × 20 mm shear box with a 20 mm thick gouge layer.
