DIGITALISATION AND SECTORAL EMPLOYMENT DYNAMICS IN ECOWAS: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS
Abstract
This study examines how digitalisation affects employment across the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors in the ECOWAS region, with a focus on whether digital transformation generates or displaces jobs. Using a balanced panel dataset covering 13 ECOWAS countries and employing pooled, fixed effects, and random effects estimators, the study analyses the impact of key digitalisation indicators on sectoral employment. The results reveal that digitalisation produces sector-specific and non-uniform employment outcomes across the region.
