Abstract

This dataset contains all simulation data and processed results underlying the figures in the manuscript titled "A Semi-Resolved VOF-DEM Coupling Method for Bedload Transport of Non-Spherical Particles." The data are organized to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and compliance with journal data-sharing policies.1. Data OrganizationEach figure in the manuscript corresponds to a separate folder named Figure_X, where X is the figure number.Within each folder, files are prefixed with:sp- for data from simulations with spherical particles.nosp- for data from simulations with non-spherical particles.2. Data Content by FigureThe dataset includes raw and processed data for the following figures:Figure 4: Settling velocity curves for spherical and non-spherical particles.Figure 5: Terminal settling drag coefficients for spherical particles.Figure 6: Terminal settling drag coefficients for non-spherical particles, including subfigures (a) and (b) based on shape factor and disk-shaped particle assumptions.Figure 8: Velocity profiles during the two-particle Drafting-Kissing-Tumbling (DKT) process, including comparisons between semi-resolved simulations, experimental data, and unresolved simulations.Figure 10: Instantaneous particle transport rates under high-concentration conditions.Figure 11: Validation data for bedload transport rates under high-concentration conditions.Figure 12: Time-averaged longitudinal velocity and Reynolds stress distributions for Case-3 conditions.Figure 13: Instantaneous particle transport rates under low-concentration conditions.Figure 17: Probability density distributions of imbrication slope angles.3. Data Formats and StructureA. Flow Field DataStored in .mat (MATLAB) files.Contains spatially resolved fluid field data, including coordinates (x, y, z) and velocity components (u, v, w).B. Particle DataStored in .txt files, categorized into two types:Directly Plottable Data:Files containing processed data ready for generating the figures in the manuscript.Comprehensive Simulation Outputs:Files with detailed particle-scale information, structured as follows:Column HeaderDescription#indexParticle identifier or time step indextimeSimulation timedragForceDrag force vector acting on the particleUsParticle velocity vectorUfluidFluid velocity vector at the particle locationRepParticle Reynolds numberCdDrag coefficientvoidfractionLocal void fraction运动颗粒数量Number of moving particles (in Chinese, as in original output)总输沙体积Total sediment transport volume (in Chinese, as in original output)positionParticle position coordinatesThe data are organized in sections separated by ||, denoting:vectorData: Vector quantities (e.g., forces, velocities).scalarData: Scalar quantities (e.g., dimensionless numbers, counts).position: Particle coordinates.4. Reusability and AccessThe dataset is curated to enable:Regeneration of all figures in the manuscript.Further analysis of particle-flow interactions, bedload transport dynamics, and bed morphology evolution.Validation and benchmarking of other numerical models.Transparency in the semi-resolved CFD-DEM methodology and its outcomes.5. Compliance StatementThis dataset fulfills the journal’s data availability requirements. It includes all essential raw and processed data supporting the findings, ensuring full reproducibility of the reported results.6.
