Abstract

This database refers to the research entitled Acute Physiological Responses to Prolonged Sedentary Behavior: Impact on Cardiovascular Function and Muscle Activity in Young Adults, published in the Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology in 2026. The study aimed to investigate the acute physiological responses associated with prolonged sedentary behavior, with an emphasis on its effects on cardiovascular function and muscle activity in young adults. The database includes anthropometric, body composition, and physiological variables of the participating volunteers, such as age, body mass, height, body mass index, body circumferences, body fat percentage, muscle mass, fat-free mass, as well as measures related to physical activity and sedentary behavior. These data allow detailed analyses of cardiovascular and neuromuscular changes resulting from prolonged sitting.Data were collected under controlled laboratory conditions, following standardized protocols and prior approval by a research ethics committee, ensuring the reliability and reproducibility of the results. The availability of this database contributes to scientific transparency and enables secondary analyses that further enhance the understanding of the physiological mechanisms involved in prolonged sedentary behavior and its potential risks to cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health.
