Abstract

Background: Carica papaya variety Eksotika is an important export commodity in Malaysia. However, papaya dieback disease caused by Erwinia mallotivora has severely impacted production. The lack of comprehensive genetic and genomic data for local papaya varieties has constrained research efforts in functional genomics and molecular marker development. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms generate high-throughput genetic and genomic data, but require organized repositories for effective data management and accessibility. Objective: To develop CpEDb, a comprehensive database repository for genetic and genomic information of C. papaya Eksotika and E. mallotivora to support functional genomics research and molecular breeding programs.CpEDb provides the first comprehensive genetic and genomic resource for Malaysian papaya research, facilitating functional genomics studies, molecular marker development, and marker-assisted breeding programs. The database will be continuously updated with new scientific information.
