Psychology of Adjustment
Abstract
Psychology of Adjustment, a course designed to help you understand how individuals adapt to the demands, challenges, and changes of everyday life. Adjustment is a fundamental aspect of human behaviour, influencing how people think, feel, relate with others, and function within society. In this course, you will explore adjustment from medical, behavioural, and social perspectives, and examine the processes and nature of human adjustment across different life situations. Attention will also be given to key psychological principles such as development, self-concept, coping with stress, emotions, social influence, and interpersonal relationships, including love and intimacy. You will further study subjective dimensions of adjustment, psychological disorders, and models of maladjustment. The course is structured to help you develop both theoretical understanding and practical insight into human behaviour. By the end of the course, you should be better equipped to recognise adaptive and maladaptive patterns in yourself and others, and to apply psychological principles to promote healthy adjustment and personal growth. You are encouraged to participate actively in lectures, discussions, and class activities, as meaningful engagement is essential to fully benefit from this course. I look forward to working with you and guiding you through an intellectually stimulating and practically relevant learning experience. Once again, welcome to Psychology of Adjustment.
