The Hecke–Lerch Correspondence VII: The Universal Archimedean Kernel and Resolution of the Regulator Gap
Abstract
This paper (Paper VII of the Hecke–Lerch Correspondence series) resolves the long-standing “Regulator Gap” obstructing explicit analytic class field theory for number fields of degree n > 2. We extend the correspondence to real quadratic fields—the simplest case where the regulator gap appears—and construct a universal Archimedean kernel using the Meijer G-function, identified as the radial heat kernel on the symmetric space P_n ≅ GL(n,ℝ) / O(n).Key contributions include:Algebraic robustness via an inverse divisibility constraint for infinite unit groups.Comprehensive computational verification across 33,824 quadratic fields with perfect success in 6.37 CPU hours.Universal scalar factor Ω(r₁, r₂) = 4 / (2^{r₂} π^{(r₁ + r₂)/2}) adapting to any signature.Global theta function Θ_L(t) whose Mellin transform is the completed Dedekind zeta function Λ_L(s).Explicit class field generation for cyclic cubic fields, solving Hilbert’s 12th problem within the cyclic framework.Discovery of two arithmetic-geometric laws: the Compensation Principle and the Empirical Regulator Growth Law R ∝ D^{0.543 ± 0.007}.The paper provides the first analytic resolution of the regulator gap for abelian fields of arbitrary degree and signature, validated empirically with polynomial recovery errors below 10^{-90}.
