Biblical Stewardship and Ethical Leadership: Christian Moral Frameworks for Governance, Institutions, and Campus Leadership
Abstract
Ethical leadership failures continue to undermine institutional credibility across educational, religious, and governance contexts, particularly in the Global South. This paper argues that biblical stewardship, when understood as a comprehensive moral framework rather than a narrowly financial concept, offers a robust ethical foundation for leadership, accountability, and institutional responsibility. Drawing on biblical theology, Christian ethical theory, and leadership studies, the paper reframes stewardship as a normative ethical paradigm encompassing power, responsibility, service, and moral agency. Through conceptual analysis and contextual application—especially within campus leadership and institutional governance—the study demonstrates how stewardship ethics can inform transparent leadership practices, foster accountability, and promote human flourishing. The paper contributes to Christian ethics and leadership scholarship by positioning biblical stewardship as a viable moral framework for ethical leadership in contemporary institutional life.
