Thermo Physical Property Evaluation of Burnt Clay Bricks Modified With Discarded Waste Materials And Its Energy Performance Analysis In Buildings
Abstract
The goal of present investigation is to improve the thermal insulation properties of conventional clay bricks modified with municipal solid waste. Thermal insulation bricks were developed using different combination and composition fly ash (FA), rice husk ash (RHA) and bagasse powder (BP) by replacing of 25% soil. Once ensuring the minimum required strength for non-load bearing bricks, they were subjected to water absorption test, where the specified limit is 20%. After checking the mandatory properties, best insulation bricks were selected based on lowest thermal conductivity. When increase the incorporation percentage of discarded solid waste from 6.25 %– 18.75% by volume, the thermo-physical properties such as compression strength, bulk density, and thermal conductivity value of the clay brick were significantly decreased. The heat load estimation, electricity cost analysis were carried out using the best brick samples and around 84% heat load, power consumption cost is reduced while using brick sample B5.
