Supplementary_Figure_S1_Seasonal_distribution_of_roadkill_counts
Abstract
Supplementary Figure S1 presents the seasonal proportional distribution of amphibian and reptile roadkill counts along the surveyed road in Ba Vi National Park. To evaluate whether the seasonal patterns observed in Fig. 3 were driven primarily by the numerically dominant Asian common toad (Duttaphrynus melanostictus), a sensitivity analysis was conducted in which this species was excluded from the dataset.Amphibians are therefore shown excluding D. melanostictus to illustrate seasonal patterns after removing the influence of this dominant species. Following its exclusion, the proportional dominance of amphibians during the hot–rainy phase was reduced compared with the full dataset, although amphibians remained the dominant taxon in this season. In contrast, reptiles accounted for a larger proportion of roadkills during the transitional and cool–dry phases.Overall, excluding the Asian common toad reduced the magnitude of seasonal contrasts in taxon-specific roadkill composition but did not eliminate these differences across seasonal phases, supporting consistent seasonal patterns between reptiles and other amphibians.
