An Ontological Exploration of Field Behaviours and Properties
Abstract
Fields are a significant part of the fundamental structure of our universe, yet remain elusive compared to our knowledge of the particles that reside therein. This work was generated as part of an exploratory exercise to examine the ontological properties of fields, without treating relativistic or Lorentz-invariant frameworks as foundational. The approach proceeds by documenting field properties first, from which a set of provisional postulates is then formulated. These postulates are intended to provide partial mathematical anchoring, preferably leveraging existing theories, rather than offering definitive proof. Any mathematical formulation is provided as descriptive anchors, or sketches for further work rather than implying any formalised ratification. The work also explores early properties of a possible unified universal field structure, though this remains work in progress. This paper is not intended to be a consolidated theory, but as a structured vehicle for soliciting early feedback and discussion the conceptual direction of a broader project. The work endeavours to anchor to existing theory, but does offer speculation on the extension of those more formal ideas. Throughout the paper, the documentation of field properties dictates the development of the postulates, rather than any adherence to a predefined objective or target. The postulates offered in this discussion do present an interesting ontological interpretation of fields as pattern-supporting substrates when they are not necessarily underpinned by a relativistic sub-structure. The goal of this project was not to dispute Lorentz invariance or relativity, but simply to ontologically explore fields from an alternate perspective.
