Abstract

This preprint presents a conceptual framework for understanding conscious experience as an aperture-mediated process operating over an invariant geometric structure. The model proposes a twelve-fold toroidal “thoughtform” that admits an equivalent partition into focal lenses, each of which may be described as an archetypal attractor, phase sector, symmetry class, or developmental band depending on descriptive basis.A central control parameter—aperture, defined as awareness bandwidth—regulates the balance between differentiation and integration, giving rise to distinct experiential “octaves.” Consciousness units aggregate into metastable configurations as a function of aperture width, producing gestalts whose scale matches the active bandwidth. Subjective experience is understood as occurring within these constraints rather than being generated by content alone. The framework is intentionally non-reductive and interdisciplinary, offering a unifying structural language for phenomenology, cognitive theory, developmental models, and systems thinking. While primarily theoretical, it is designed to support future formalization and empirical operationalization across learning, contemplative practice, and coherence-based cognitive systems.
