Abstract

This preprint presents a multi-resolution coherence architecture for complex adaptive systems based on bandwidth-limited processing and cyclic distinction–integration. The framework models systems as operating across parallel layers with exponentially separated timescales, each balancing differentiation and integration through a constrained aperture parameter. The architecture addresses common failure modes in scalable systems—including fragmentation, instability, and catastrophic forgetting—by enforcing rhythmic integration and coherence-weighted coupling across layers. Emergent gestalts arise from synchronized interactions between resolutions rather than from centralized control or linear accumulation. The framework is intentionally mechanistic and domain-agnostic, with potential applications to artificial intelligence, distributed systems, hardware architectures, and other complex systems requiring continuous adaptation with interpretability and stability. All constructs are presented as organizational abstractions; no ontological, metaphysical, or physical claims are made.
