Healing with Sound
Abstract
Healing with Sound explores sound not as a therapeutic technique, but as a biological and somatic condition through which the human body particularly the female body regulates safety, perception, and internal rhythm.Drawing from interdisciplinary perspectives including neuroscience, psychology, somatic awareness, and women’s health studies, this work examines how sound interacts with the nervous system beyond meaning, emotion, or interpretation. Rather than focusing on sound as stimulation, the book investigates sound as an environmental signal that shapes bodily readiness, memory without language, and patterns of regulation or overload. This publication does not propose clinical interventions or prescriptive healing methods. Instead, it offers a conceptual framework for understanding listening as an embodied process one that unfolds through rhythm, predictability, silence, and the body’s innate capacity to self-regulate.Healing with Sound contributes to contemporary discussions on mind–body integration, sensory environments, and women’s embodied experience in modern life, providing a non-medical, non-instructional perspective suitable for academic, reflective, and interdisciplinary inquiry.
