The Ambience Violence Indicator (AVI) - Version 4.5 – Canonical Monograph
Abstract
The Ambience Violence Indicator (AVI) Version 4.5 is a consolidated, self‑contained forensic framework for identifying, analysing, and responding to coercive control as a pattern‑based offence of intent, architecture, and time. AVI reframes coercive control not as episodic interpersonal misconduct, but as a designed environment of domination that operates across proximity, separation, and institutional interaction.AVI 4.5 integrates four operational phases of coercive control with analytical layers addressing concealment, temporal capture, ambient control, and installed surveillance. It corrects systemic misclassification by recognising post‑separation coercive control and hybrid surveillance as distinct, high‑risk domains, and by affirming survivor capacity and endurance as evidence of resistance rather than safety. The framework is non‑therapeutic, gender‑neutral, and legally legible. It is designed for courts, police, policymakers, and institutions seeking to intervene before autonomy, dignity, and liberty are irreversibly eroded.
