ASSESSING THE CLIMATE IMPACT OF THE LAGOS-CALABAR COASTAL HIGHWAY PLANNED THROUGH STUBBS CREEK FOREST RESERVE USING GREENHOUSE GAS FLUX ANALYSIS
Abstract
This technical research report presents a quantitative climate impact assessment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (LCCH) planned through the Stubbs Creek Forest Reserve (SCFR) in Nigeria. Using greenhouse gas flux analysis and an established climate accounting framework, the study evaluates the implications of the planned infrastructure intervention within a high-carbon tropical forest ecosystem in Akwa Ibom State, southern Nigeria. The report provides estimates of greenhouse gas emissions, an economic evaluation of the associated emissions, and policy-relevant recommendations for this project and similar infrastructure developments.
