Abstract
We identified previously unrecognized, frequency-specific mechanical oscillations in vascular smooth muscle cells that are synchronized across the cell and coupled to coordinated membrane dynamics. Using real-time atomic force microscopy with cytoskeletal and myosin light chain kinase perturbations, we show that distinct oscillatory modes depend on actin organization and contractile signaling, revealing a multiscale framework for dynamic smooth muscle mechanical regulation.
