BIOMEDICAL INSTRUMENTATION-ECG SYSTEM (BLOCK DIAGRAM)
Abstract
The ECG system consists of electrodes placed on the patient’s body to pick up the weak electrical signals produced by the heart. These signals are first amplified using an instrumentation amplifier to increase signal strength and reject noise. Filters are used to remove baseline wander and power-line interference. The conditioned signal is then converted into digital form using an ADC and processed by a microcontroller. Finally, the ECG waveform is displayed on a monitor or stored for analysis.
