Exploring the Relational and Critical Possibilities of Sensorial Snapshots in Education and Research
Abstract
This paper will be represented in a performance piece that will interweave embodied movement, spoken word, and poetic articulations of autobiographical experience. In this paper/performance, I draw from my conceptualization of the sensorial snapshot (Glover, 2024) to explore how embodied arts-based ways of knowing support wholistic, culturally responsive, and antioppressive pedagogies. During this creative-critical performance, I will invite conference participants to attend from and through their sensing bodies as we collectively sojourn three sensorial snapshots of my lived experience as a woman of color from a Punjabi-Sikh Canadian lineage. Through the offering of an experiential journey, I aim to demonstrate how embodied forms of listening and responding advance relational, cultural, and critical consciousness in education, research, and beyond.
